Buckled Rock

from $445.00

Karijini, Western Australia, 2005

This image is part of a broader series of images I photographed over two trips to Karijini in 2005.

I have always been in awe of the beauty of Hamersley Gorge in particular and the reticulated, buckled, banded iron strata forming the gorge walls is a big part of that stunning beauty.

The incredible variety of texture and colour that forms each layer of banded iron is something I can study and wonder about for long periods of time. How did this diverse strata form in this in this way as layers of iron rich sediment settled and shaped according to the evolutionary forces of this part of our planet some 3 billion years ago.

This is some of the oldest exposed rock on this planet and quite possibly some of the most interesting…

Artwork Notes:

Larger scale, Ready to Hang Stretched Canvas artworks work superbly for this image either individually or as part of a series.

  • Larger or custom artwork size are available on request.

  • Free insured shipping anywhere is Australia.

  • For international shipping or any other purchase queries please make contact via purchases@paulparin.com

Paul Parin would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the Western Australian lands (Boodja) on which I live and travel upon to

produce my work and recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community.

I pay respect to Aboriginal Elders past and present and appreciate their deep cultural connection to and upon the land on which we stand…
